Who Owns The Land of Israel?

Updated: Sep 2

"The land (Israel) must not be sold permanently because the land is Mine, and you (Jews) are but aliens and My tenants." ~Leviticus 25:23

Since its inception, the nation of Israel has always been at the epicenter of conflict over ownership of the land. The Bible records the land of Israel being promised by God to Abraham and his posterity, which was an everlasting covenant. (Gen. 12:7; Gen. 15:7 -translated "occupy")

The Jewish possessors have continually experienced conquest, removal, and, eventually, the return of the land of Israel. Jews are the only group of people spread to the four winds through conquest yet continue maintaining their national and cultural identity.

Interestingly, the Koran also acknowledges Israel's possession of the land as factual. The historical date is 4000 BC. They also believe that because of Israel's disobedience, God [Allah] removed them from the land of blessing forever. This is inconsistent with history. The Bible teaches that God indeed removed the Jews from the land several times because of idolatry, a "rejection of Himself," only to reinstate them when they turned back.

The Bible also states that Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, will return to Jerusalem to set up the earthly kingdom that was rejected by Israel over 2,000 years ago. If the land were not given to Israel to occupy, then where on earth would Jesus return?

Ishmael, although part of the Abrahamic Covenant of Circumcision, was not given the land through inheritance. God promised to bless, increase him, and make him a “great nation” from him. Ishmael's posterity is traced to modern-day Arabs. Like the Jews, they have made significant contributions to humanity because they were “blessed and favored the God of the Bible called YWHW Jehovah…..Not Allah!

The “real” truth is that the land actually belongs to God! Israel is designated as the Tenant only but not the owner. A Tenant merely occupies....they "possess" but do not truly own.

The Koran refers to the Jew as “people of the Book” or the Old Testament Torah). We also find that the Koran acknowledges ownership of the "Land" as belonging to Israel.

It is recorded that God promised the land of Canaan to the Jews as an unconditional covenant – 55 times. Furthermore, the Bible records that God confirmed the gift with an oath. Twelve times, He stated that the covenant was “everlasting.”

The boundaries of the Promised Land are found in Exodus 23:31.

“And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the River” (Euphrates or modern-day Iraq).

The Jews have never occupied the “bounds” God set for them. It is, however, coming in a future event when Messiah returns to the Mount of Olives and assumes the throne of Israel. This event will occur in Israel’s Great Tribulation at the End of Days.
