Who's going to rule?

"He makes nations great, and destroys them;

He enlarges nations, and guides them." -Job 12:23

Man and woman gasping at each other

Many themes form the basis of Christian belief. These run as a "silver thread" from Genesis to Revelation. Redemption, salvation, and restoration, to name a few. One of the themes consistent in this vein is the question, "Who is going to rule?"

For a Believer, the question is answered the moment we turn to Christ, giving Him. The question that emerges in every relational conflict is, "Who is going to rule?" It does not matter if the dispute is between individuals or between nations.

The person who follows Jesus chooses continually to live "conflict-free" and in peace with God, with themselves, and with others.

He has asked us to give up our agendas and follow Him.

"Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."" ~Luke 9:23

Faith makes Eternal Life secure through this single life choice. We give up our agenda, accept His way and allow Him to lead and rule our lives. The Abundant Life, on the other hand, is not automatic! It only occurs as we daily answer the question," Who is going to rule?"

He promised us that if we would follow Him (give up our agendas), we would never walk in darkness but would experience righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

"Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of Life." ~John 8:12

Today we find such conflict in world events, and nations are rising against nations. While God does not "control all things," He most definitely is "in control of all things." Does it seem like double-speak? Not at all! I am saying that God can "use all things, even terrible things, for His purpose."

He can bring GOOD out of every seemingly terrible situation!

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

~Romans 8:28

Therefore, Jesus' words to follow Him because He is the light have meaning in the world we find ourselves in today!

"I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of Life." ~John 8:12

Therefore, Jesus’ words to follow Him because He is the light has meaning in the world we find ourselves today!

Give up your agenda for His! Instead, choose to let Him rule!
